Check the UK sanctions list
Before you send money, settle an invoice or start work with a partner, check the person, company or bank against the consolidated list of financial sanctions targets. Search by name, organisation, country or sanctions regime.

The OFSI consolidated list is the source of record and prevails in case of any difference. We store no queries. Breaching financial sanctions is a criminal offence and the responsibility sits with the payer; if in doubt, ask your bank or a solicitor.
Check the right to rent and the right to work
Renting a room out or taking someone on — you have to check their status. One thing first, without which the rest makes no sense: nobody can run this check for you — not us, not an agent, not a friendly solicitor. The law only protects you from a penalty if you did the check yourself through the government service. All we can do is point you at the right one and tell you what it takes.
I am letting a property
You need two things from the tenant: their share code and date of birth. Nothing else — no passport, no copies.

You view your own status and generate the share code for a landlord or employer yourself. The code is yours to hand out — you decide who gets it and when.
My status and share code →Right to rent checks are required in England only — the scheme has not been commenced in Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland. The civil penalty for renting to someone without the right: £5,000 per lodger and £10,000 per occupier for a first breach, £10,000 and £20,000 for a repeat breach within three years; a first-breach penalty paid within 21 days is reduced by 30%. And the rule people forget most often: check every new tenant, without exception. Checking only those who look foreign to you is discrimination — a separate breach of the law. We neither see nor store any of this: you enter it on the government service itself.
