Saturday’s matches on 12 September followed one pattern: the favourites stalled, and Arsenal kept going without a slip.

What were the results?

Arsenal 2-0 Sunderland. Goals from Bruno Guimarães and Bukayo Saka from the spot. The London side keep a perfect start and stay top.

Liverpool 0-0 Fulham. At Anfield the hosts created enough, but Bernd Leno in the visitors’ goal saved everything on target.

Chelsea 2-2 Hull City. Morgan Rogers and João Pedro scored for the hosts; Mohamed Belloumi struck twice for Hull, who sit third after this round — remarkable for a newly promoted side.

Tottenham 0-0 Everton. Spurs had the ball and little else.

Nottingham Forest 2-1 Aston Villa. Liam Delap and Igor Jesus won it for Forest; Alysson pulled one back. Villa are still without a win this season.

Ipswich 3-2 Crystal Palace. The most frantic match of the round: Anan Khalaili, Leif Davis and Zian Flemming in the 90th minute.

Bournemouth 2-2 Brentford. Kevin Schade scored twice for the visitors; Justin Kluivert and Marcus Tavernier replied.

What does it mean for the table?

Arsenal are the only side yet to drop a point. Chelsea are fourth after the draw, Hull City an unlikely third. Aston Villa are the only big club still without a win.

Where to watch in London: Premier League matches are shown in pubs, and on a Sunday that is the cheapest way to see a game — no entry fee, you pay only for what you order. Saturday 3pm kick-offs are not televised in the UK at all: a long-standing blackout protects attendances in the lower leagues.
