A faulty game, app or film: what your rights are
Paid-for content — games, apps, e-books, films, in-app purchases — is also protected by consumer law. If it doesn't work as it should, you have remedies.
Thanks for £1
A digital purchase is no exception. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, paid digital content (games, apps, e-books, music, films, in-app purchases) must be of satisfactory quality, fit for its purpose and as described.
What you can require
If the content does not meet these standards, section 42 of the CRA 2015 gives remedies: repair or replacement, and if that fails or is impossible, a price reduction. If the trader had no right to supply the content at all, a full refund. There is a rule: if the fault appears within six months, it is treated as having been there from the start (unless the contrary is shown).

A separate right: if faulty digital content damages your device or other content (for example by causing a crash) and the trader did not use reasonable care and skill, you can claim — a repair or compensation for the damage.
So «sold as is, no refunds» does not apply to paid digital content from a trader: the law gives you a right to repair, replacement, price reduction or refund.
